We are committed to designing, manufacturing, and packaging our products with minimal environmental impact.

We’re not here to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. We are honest about our imperfections and recognise that there is still progress to be made. We are committed to listening, researching new approaches, and holding ourselves accountable to our community and the planet. Through the efforts outlined below, we are moving in the right direction in how we produce, distribute, and consume.

Materials

We take great care in our supply chain and in how we choose and source raw materials. All our papers are sustainably certified. Sustainably certified forests are given time to regenerate naturally, and local wildlife is a top priority. We continue to seek solutions to improve not only our product's performance but also the production and sourcing of our raw materials. Contracting the radius of our sourcing circle as much as possible.

Packaging

All our products are packaged in recycled, recyclable and compostable cardboard book wraps and mailers. Providing suitable protection from shipping damage without the use of harmful plastic materials.

Manufacturing

We operate our machinery on renewable energy and reuse or recycle all manufacturing waste. Looking to the future of how books can be manufactured with consideration for the impact of the process and the materials we use. As with every element of our business, there's a lot of room for improvement, but that’s our promise: to continuously challenge our own processes.

Climate compensation

For each item purchased through pithsupply.com, we contribute a portion of the profit to planting and rewilding projects. Your order will also include a packet of Desk Meadow seeds, adding a little greenery to your environment and a small daily reminder to care for our planet.

Our first We Plant, You Plant project, in collaboration with Sustainable Global Gardens, has now finished, and we are looking for new, exciting projects here in Northumberland, our home. We will now work with local projects in and around Berwick-upon-Tweed to transform neglected/underused sites into community assets, increasing biodiversity, supporting wildlife, capturing carbon, and fostering community activity. Further information about specific projects will be released throughout 2026.
